About the Course
UCanCAM is a CAM-based machining software designed primarily for CNC routers, laser systems, and similar CNC equipment. It converts design data into toolpaths that the machine can execute, assisting operators in preparing the necessary production files for operations such as cutting, milling, grooving, drilling, and engraving.
Users can work with designs created within the software or import external vector files. The contours of the workpiece are defined, the appropriate tool is selected, and key parameters—such as cutting depth, step-down amount, feed rate, and machining direction—are established. Based on these settings, UCanCAM generates the toolpath and produces G-code or the specific machining file required by the CNC control system.
A significant advantage of UCanCAM is that it enables CNC router users to prepare pre-production processes with greater control. Operations such as inner and outer contour cutting, pocketing, profiling, drilling, and toolpath generation based on varying tool diameters can all be managed within the software. This allows the operator to determine exactly how the part will be machined before production begins.
